HELPING TO REBUILD OUR COMMUNITY FOLLOWING THE CATASTROPHIC SIR IVAN FIRE

BLAZE AID HAS ARRIVED IN CASSILIS

BlazeAid is a volunteer-based organisation that works with families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters such as fires and floods. Working alongside the rural families, volunteers help to rebuild fences and other structures that have been damaged or destroyed. BlazeAid has set up a base camp at Cassilis Bowling Club to accommodate volunteers, and will be providing breakfast, lunch and evening meals for volunteers that will be staying at the Cassilis base camp.

We are currently looking for community service groups, sporting clubs, school groups, etc. or individuals who would like to help with the preparation of evening meals. BlazeAid will cover the costs of the ingredients, and the meals may either be prepared in the Cassilis Bowling Club kitchen or off site. The number of meals required for each evening will be known by 7.30am on the morning that the meals are required, so you will know exactly how many meals you will need to prepare. The meals consist of a main meal and desert. An indication of an average 20-30 meals per night has been given, however it is difficult to know what the response will be at this stage.

Biscuits, cakes and slices would also be appreciated for morning tea.

If you, or your organisation would like to help with food preparation, or obtain further information, please contact Linda Gant 6376 1044 or email lindagant1@bigpond.com .

Information about BlazeAid is available at www.blazeaid.com General enquiries and volunteer/property registrations: 0475 115-899 Email: blazeaid.cassilis@gmail.com

BlazeAid volunteers rebuild fences after fires, floods and cyclones.

New Doctor at Merriwa Medical Practice

We have started the New Year with full strength and have new staff, including a fully trained GP and 2 new Registered Nurses.

I would like to introduce Dr Santhosh Kumar Sadashivappa, (who likes to be called Dr San or Dr Santhosh), whom has recently joined us full time as a GP. He is a fully qualified doctor with excellent patient skills and clinical knowledge, he is very competent and as a bonus for our Merriwa community he has  excellent emergency experience and will be providing services to Merriwa MPS as well.

Taylah Vicary is our young RN (Registered Nurse), she is full of energy, very friendly, enthusiastic.

Rebecca Zaffino is our other RN (Registered Nurse), she is quite experienced with a special interest in women’s health and is a Pap Smear provider.

The greatest news I want to share is that from 6th of February 2017, in Merriwa and Denman, we are open full time 5 days a week, from 8 am to 6 pm. Myself, Dr Santhosh and our two lovely new nurses will be working at both practices (Merriwa and Denman) each day every week, so please call 65325013 to make an appointment and come and meet our friendly staff.
